Born and raised in Ottawa, Rocco Romeo has always called Ottawa home. A graduate (Cum Laude) of The University of Ottawa, Rocco holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors, 1988) and successfully completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Examination in 1989. As a CA, Rocco spent eight years at KPMG, working towards his role as Senior Manager before moving to the Chief Financial Officer position at Hospital Shared Service (a company responsible for all financial aspects for both HLS Linen Services and Healthcare Food Services). In 2000, at the request of the outgoing CEO, Rocco accepted the CEO position at HLS Linen Services. Since then, Rocco has evolved the company to its current industry leadership position, applying operational and plant efficiencies that have improved the company’s performance by over 60% in the past five years. Rocco is a Member of HLAC (Hospital Laundry Accreditation Council) and is the Co-Chair of the Canadian Committee of the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council. He is also an active member of a number of industry organizations, including: IAHTM (International Association for Healthcare Textile Managers); TRSA (Textile Rental Service Association); NAILM (National Association of Institutional Linen Management); ARTA (American Reusable Textile Association); IFI (International Fabricare Institute) and ABLASQ (Association des Buanderies et Lingeries des Affaires Sociale
