CEO Rocco Romeo’s Insight into Laundry Industry Growth in 2024
In a recent interview with FabricareCanada Magazine, HLS Linen Services CEO, Rocco Romeo, shared three essential strategies for driving growth in the laundry industry.
- Reusable Textiles Make a Comeback
The industry is witnessing a resurgence in reusable textiles, reclaiming market share from disposable products. The environmental and cost benefits are clear: 60,000 reusable isolation gowns replace 4.5 million disposable ones, reducing landfill waste and saving on warehouse space. HLS has seen a surge in demand, now shipping up to 200,000 gowns weekly, compared to 36,000 post-pandemic.
- Embracing Automation
The labor challenges during COVID highlighted the importance of automation in the laundry industry. With a potential shrinking labor pool, adopting AI and robotics is crucial for staying competitive. HLS has implemented innovations like a UV Cart Wash System and UV Truck Sanitization, enhancing infection control and operational efficiency.
- Efficiency is King
The laundry industry is an unsung hero, requiring effective process control and strong logistics to deliver essential services daily. Rocco Romeo emphasizes the importance of promoting the industry’s strengths and the dedication of its workforce. His commitment to excellence and continuous improvement drives HLS to achieve top industry accreditations, including ISO and Hygienically Clean certifications.
Rocco also expressed gratitude for the mentors and colleagues who have guided him, as well as his hardworking team at HLS, whose loyalty and commitment have been instrumental in the company’s success.
