HLAC Accreditation Standards Awarded the AHE Seal of Review and Recognition™
The Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE) recently awarded its AHE Seal of Review and Recognition™ to the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) document, “Accreditation Standards for Processing Reusable Textiles for Use in Healthcare Facilities – 2016 Edition”. The HLAC is a nonprofit organization that inspects and accredits laundries worldwide that process reusable textiles for hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities.
HLS Linen Services is proud to be the only Ontario company accredited by the HLAC which included a thorough review of best practices and standards for the laundry industry covering everything from infection control to cleaning to transportation processes. The document also covers many other considerations including personnel training and customer service. A completely voluntary process, the HLAC accreditation is only awarded to laundries with the highest standards for patient safety and infection prevention – something HLS is extremely proud to have – giving our customers reassurance that the linens they receive are hygienically clean and safe.
In addition to supplying healthcare customers with the cleanest and safest linens available, HLS offers significant cost savings to our clients’ facilities. Owning our own linens saves customers from having to constantly buy and replace materials, and our state-of-the-art laundry equipment saves the cost of energy normally consumed by onsite laundry machines. In addition, HLS combines its water treatment and softening systems to reduce the use of chemicals in the wash process, cutting even more costs and increasing linen life.
The AHE Seal of Review and Recognition provides an additional level of confidence and confirmation that HLAC-accredited laundries, like HLS, are meeting the strictest of standards for excellence in safe patient care.
